AMC+ has launched its new supernatural thriller series Yaga, with the first two episodes available to stream immediately in the United States. The eight-episode series premiered on Friday, October 23, and new episodes will arrive every Friday, concluding with a two-episode season finale on November 27.
The series stars Hudson Williams in his first major television role following his breakout in Heated Rivalry. He is joined by Noah Reid, known for Schitt's Creek, The Matrix actress Carrie-Anne Moss, and Clark Backo. The show puts a contemporary spin on the centuries-old Slavic legend of Baba Yaga.
Set in the fictional coastal town of Whittock, Yaga follows private investigator Rapp, played by Reid, who arrives to investigate the disappearance of a man named Henry. His search brings him into contact with a wary local detective, Carson, played by Backo, and Katherine, played by Moss, a charismatic university professor whose connections to the missing man become central to the unfolding investigation.
The series is adapted from Kat Sandler's 2019 stage play of the same name. Sandler returns as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Moss also serves as an executive producer. The show's trailer features Alanis Morissette's rendition of Donovan's "Season of the Witch."
Yaga is streaming exclusively on AMC+ in the U.S., meaning it is not available through a traditional cable network or channel. Viewers can access AMC+ through its standalone subscription service or as an add-on to platforms including Prime Video, Apple TV, Sling TV, and DirecTV. According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC+ pricing starts at $7.99 per month with ads, or $10.99 per month with no ads. Amazon Prime members can access AMC+ through a free trial offer, which provides a week of access before continuing at the $7.99 monthly rate or cancelling without charge.
Another option is Philo's Bundle+ plan, which includes AMC+ alongside more than 70 live television channels and access to HBO Max Basic with Ads and Discovery+. The Hollywood Reporter states the Bundle+ plan costs $33 per month. Variety notes that adding AMC+ to an existing Prime Video account is the best way to stream the series.
The series consists of eight 30-minute episodes. Physical copies of Sandler's original play, published by Playwrights Canada Press, sold out online when Williams' casting was first announced but have since been restocked, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
