GenXS Carnival has offered a first look at its 2027 costume collection, showcasing model, actress, and influencer Virginia Sanhouse in a design created by Shawn Dhanraj. The campaign launch signals the start of the band's roll-out for its fifth season in Jamaica, coming on the heels of a strong performance in international competitions and outlining a busy regional schedule for early 2027.Sanhouse, who commands an Instagram audience exceeding 2.5 million followers, appears in one of the campaign's initial releases. The unveiling builds upon "Watch the Road," the band’s pre-registration campaign aimed at incorporating new technology and branded items into the masquerader experience. Monét Flowers, acting marketing director of GenXS Carnival, emphasized that the brand is focusing on the participant's perspective for its fifth year in Jamaica. "'Watch the Road' puts our masqueraders' point of view at the centre of the experience," Flowers stated. "From smart glasses to what we're planning for the road, we want to give people more ways to enjoy Carnival and keep those memories." The pre-registration release includes GenXS Smart Glasses for capturing point-of-view road footage, along with GenXS Moon Slides, a Carry-On Capsule, and insulated mugs. The costume reveal follows a high-stakes performance at Miami Broward Carnival 2026, where GenXS secured second place in the Band of the Year competition with its "STING" presentation. The result required an intensive emergency production operation after international logistics issues caused costume shipping delays from China that impacted multiple bands. Nisha Felice of Nisha Felice Productions led the crisis response, coordinating production teams flown in directly from Trinidad and Grenada. Working around the clock at the GenX band house, the team remade more than 100 costumes in time for the band to cross the judging stage. "Production crisis management is what I do, and everyone involved was committed to getting our masqueraders ready," Felice said.Reflecting on the Miami result, GenX Director Tagyei Belinfante noted the challenges faced by the band leading up to the parade. "Miami 2026 tested us," Belinfante said. "Alongside the move to a new venue, costume shipping delays from China affected several bands, including ours. Our team had to respond quickly, and our masqueraders showed tremendous patience. To still cross that stage and earn second place means a great deal." The second-place finish represents the band's third consecutive top-three finish in Miami, following its victory in 2024 with "Ravenous" and a third-place finish in 2025.Looking ahead to 2027, GenXS will continue its multi-island schedule. The band will return to Port of Spain for Trinidad Carnival on February 8 and 9, marking its fourth year partnering with TRIBE to host a dedicated GenXS section and the branded GenXS Cart. The Trinidad collaboration has consistently linked the band's Jamaica and Miami customer bases with Trinidad's established carnival circuit since 2024. In Jamaica, where the band made its road debut in 2023, GenXS Immortals J’Ouvert is scheduled for April 3, 2027, followed by the main GenXS Carnival road march on April 4, 2027.
