Police in Trinidad are investigating the fatal shootings of a spa owner and a customer following an armed attack at a business establishment in Couva, Central Trinidad. The victims have been identified as 55-year-old Kavita Deosarine, the owner of SOHO Beauty Heaven and a resident of Midway Park, Freeport, and 64-year-old customer Cheryl Dickson, of La Croix Street, Couva. Both women were fatally shot on the premises by an intruder armed with a firearm who fled the scene after the attack.
According to initial information regarding the incident, a customer was at SOHO Beauty Heaven around 9:20 a.m. when a suspect entered the establishment carrying a firearm. The suspect was clad in a blue coverall upon entering the spa premises. After walking into the venue, the suspect approached Dickson and questioned her about the vehicle she was driving. Immediately after asking Dickson about her vehicle, the suspect shot her twice.
After shooting Dickson, the suspect proceeded into a room where Deosarine was located. The intruder confronted the spa owner inside the room, and seconds later, two gunshots were heard. Following the discharge of those gunshots, the suspect fled the scene.
The spa is situated within a commercial plaza that houses several other operating businesses. Among the neighboring establishments located in the plaza is a special school for children. Despite the shooting taking place within the shared commercial plaza, no one else was reported injured during the incident.
Police officers were at the scene as part of the ongoing response to the incident. As of noon, the bodies of Deosarine and Dickson remained at the location, along with police officers who were continuing their investigations into the deaths.
