Puerto Rican rapper and singer Young Miko brought her Late Checkout Tour to Los Angeles on Saturday, taking the stage at the Intuit Dome more than an hour after the scheduled 8 p.m. start — a delay her thousands of fans appeared happy to forgive as a deafening roar went up when she opened with “El intro” and “What’s Ur Vibe?”

The 28-year-old artist, known for a seductive and confident stage persona, moved quickly through a high-energy set. Her performance of “Meiomi,” the second single from her sophomore album Do Not Disturb, drew on the sensual imagery of the song’s music video through her dancing and set design, and she kept the momentum going with “Likey Likey,” “Algo casual” and “Ojalá,” working every angle of the stage. Destin Conrad made a special appearance for their collaboration “no debo :(.” For one fan, the night offered something extra: during “Sin Pausa,” the fan was brought up to sit at the end of the catwalk as Miko flirtatiously sang and danced around them.

The show marked a significant career milestone. The Late Checkout Tour is Miko’s first global headlining arena tour, and it was revealed shortly before the concert that her first-ever show at the Intuit Dome had sold out. About halfway through the performance, between that news and the affection pouring in from the crowd, Miko became visibly emotional, getting teary-eyed in what was described as an “I made it” moment.

Speaking in Spanish later in the show, she told the audience: “I’ve been having some beautiful months of my life, where I’ve been traveling the world. This year, I’ve been getting to know new audiences and I’ve also been seeing some beautiful audiences that have supported me for a long time.” She added: “Today I have more people than ever before and I can’t thank you enough for the support you’ve given me.”

Miko has also spoken about her role as a queer Latina icon, saying she feels a responsibility “to give visibility to my community and who I am and for people to resonate with it.” That was evident during Saturday’s set, particularly in her performance of the queer anthem “MADRE.” Later, the energy turned hotter during “COLMILLO,” her 2023 track with J Balvin and Tainy, as she and her dancers performed the sensual Latin club dance style known as perreo.

She went on to perform “Chulo pt.2” (featuring Bad Gyal and Tokischa), her Feid collaboration “CLASSY 101” and “FINA” (featuring Bad Bunny) before closing with “WASSUP.” Miko has said performing is one of her favorite parts of being an artist. “I love the stage so much,” she said ahead of the release of Do Not Disturb. “It’s so ironic that so many people are watching you, yet it makes me feel like I can be myself like to my best possible abilities. And then the fans, damn, they just feel like an extended family.”

Next up on the Late Checkout Tour is Phoenix, followed by several more stops across North America. The tour is scheduled to wrap up in November at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
