The United States has completed its initial major deportation flight to Haiti following the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) by the administration. More than 160 individuals were returned to the nation, which continues to face severe humanitarian challenges, mass displacement, and pervasive gang violence.
The Thursday flight touched down at Cap-Haïtien International Airport instead of the facility in Port-au-Prince due to severe security threats. The capital remains largely controlled by armed gang coalitions, rendering the main airport area unsuitable for arrivals following the Supreme Court ruling affecting roughly 350,000 Haitian beneficiaries.
