Dancehall entertainer Joseph “Medz Boss” Olliviere regained his freedom on Friday evening after his legal team mounted a successful challenge against his ongoing custody. Attorney Criston J Williams confirmed that Olliviere walked free at approximately 7 pm, navigating a procedure that required intervention from a tribunal alongside the relevant minister's discretionary authority. Olliviere had previously faced an allegation of unlawfully drawing electricity.
While expressing appreciation to Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander for utilizing his discretion in the matter, Williams voiced strong reservations regarding an administrative misstep by the prison service that hindered the entertainer's prompt departure. The lawyer noted that the official detention order had already been rescinded, meaning his client should have faced no further obstacles.
