On Saturday, September 12, the Inter‑Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) will launch its inaugural Super Saturday In‑Season Festival, turning the island’s schoolboy football calendar into a festival of high‑level exhibition matches.
Unlike the traditional format where seeded teams wait for the main competitions to begin, ISSA has gathered 30 of the country’s top Manning Cup and daCosta Cup schools to play two matches each. The event is designed to keep the top‑ranked teams match‑ready after receiving byes into the second round, with sectional awards and individual performances providing the main incentives rather than an overall champion.
Manchester High will host the opening day, kicking off at 9:30 am with Christiana High facing St Catherine High. The schedule continues with Manchester High versus Tivoli Gardens at 11:00 am, Kemps Hill High against Excelsior High at 12:30 pm, and a return clash between Tivoli Gardens and Christiana High at 2:00 pm. The afternoon will feature additional fixtures at St George’s College, promising an exciting day for fans and players alike.
The festival not only offers a showcase for young talent but also sets a vibrant tone for the season, encouraging competitive spirit and community engagement across Jamaica’s football schools.
