Nine-year-old Nahjala Osbourne of St. Mary captured the Mini Miss Jamaica Heritage crown on August 29, 2026, prevailing in a culturally focused pageant backed by reggae legend Capleton’s foundation. The grand finals for the youth competition took place at Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, drawing participants from across the region.

The Mini Miss Jamaica Heritage contest is a Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC)-endorsed event designed specifically for young girls aged seven to twelve. Functioning much like a junior counterpart to the National Festival Queen competition, the pageant places a strong emphasis on Jamaican culture, the arts, individual intelligence, and social awareness.

Nahjala’s successful run in the competition was directly supported by the St. Mary Mi Come From Foundation, a charitable organization established by reggae artist Capleton. The foundation, which recently organized a back-to-school treat for children in St. Mary, stepped in after the entertainer recognized the young contestant's standout qualities.

“I saw the potential in her and that she was very bright and confident, so we decided to sponsor her,” Capleton explained regarding the foundation's backing. The partnership helped propel the St. Mary representative to victory at the Ocho Rios finals, celebrating youth empowerment and cultural education.
